In this episode of “Voices”, we have a brief chat with Jacob Waniyon Francis (@jacob_adeshina_francis) on why he chose to be a youth advocate
Q: Tell me a little about yourself?
My name is Jacob Waniyon Francis. I am a Change Maker, emerging leader, volunteer with many organizations, an advocate of Peace and justice and an advocate of SDGs.
I am currently a student at Lagos State University, studying Religious studies Education and I am in my final year.
Q: Why did you decide to take the path you’re currently on?
My greatest interest in life is seeing changes in every sector.
As a young man studying the situation in our dear country (Nigeria) today, I see a lot of decadence in the political leadership system.
I felt having people that really care about others in the affairs of our nation will make things easy and this can’t be achieved without us taking charge more reason I contested for many leadership positions e.g President of National Association of Badagry West students’ (NABWES), Honorable member representing the interest of fellow students at the Education Students Representative Council, Lagos State University among others.
Q: What advice do you have for other young Nigerians like you?
My advice has always been very simple,
Enough of the complaint. Let’s take charge now. But you must have something to offer. Build capacity and keep giving back to your community. The future is bright and we are the future.
Q: What kind of legacy do you want to leave?
We are in life to serve God and Humanity.
After leaving any office I find myself in, my legacy is to leave a track record that my successor will find hard to meet up with.
I want to leave history behind and not just my name.
Thank you.
